For the U.S. national team's first training camp of 2004, Coach Bruce Arena has named a 30-man roster with 27 MLS players. As expected, Arena did not call in the English-based players, whose league does not have a winter break.

The camp, which begins on Jan. 4, leads up to the USA's friendly against Denmark Jan. 18 at the Home Depot Center 12:30 pm PT/3:30 pm ET (live on ESPN).

The three foreign-based players are Wade Barrett (AGF Aarhus/Danish First Division), Cory Gibbs (FC St. Pauli/German Third Division) and Robbie Russell (FC Sogndal, Norwegian First Division).

I assume this will not be the squad used in important qualifying matches. The three Premiership goalkeepers will certainly occupy spots on the actual roster, well at least two of them. Wondering which one of the three do you not pick?
Howard, Freidel, Keller.

Not such a tough question for me GreenDoberman.

Kasey Keller misses out on the squad and Tim Howard plays ahead of Brad Friedel.

Tough on Friedel but Howard is in great form at the moment and it is now time for him to be allowed to stake a claim for the USA No1 jersey.
